“A love of hip-hop and a desire to create what I hear to be hip-hop in the future. A fusion of complex cutup edits and rhythms mixed with catchy aggressive dancefloor hip-hop… We are just trying to make the music that we want to hear because no one else has made it for us.” Born and bred in Weston, Massachussetts, Edward Ma, now known to the world as edIT, began his music career as “The Con Artist” just before the turn of the millennium. As a resident DJ at the now defunct Konkrete Jungle Los Angeles, he shared the stage with Hive, Daddy Kev, James Tai and mic rockers Busdriver, P.E.A.C.E. and Mikah 9. Konkrete Jungle marked the golden age of indie hip-hop in Los Angeles, and was the bridge between the jungle and b-boy massives. During this time, he also held a residency at Dublab Radio. He was one of the very first Dublab DJs and broadcasted two weekly shows from the legendary Melrose Avenue studio. Far ahead of its time, Dublab operated as an internet radio station and served as a unifying force for the melting pot of L.A.’s intellectual DJ culture. During this musical renaissance, edIT used “The Con Artist” name to produce and engineer for the likes of Sole (Anticon), Busdriver (Epitaph), Aloe Blacc (Stones Throw), Emanon (Shaman Work), and Dr. Oop (Black Love). His highly-anticipated sophomore album Certified Air Raid Material was released early this year by L.A.’s most daring indie label Alpha Pup Records: the album has been a long four years in the making, featuring collaborations with close allies such as The Grouch, Busdriver, TTC, Abstract Rude and D-Styles. Suffice to say, Certified Air Raid Material is a dramatic departure from the melancholy downtempo sounds of Crying Over Pros for No Reason. Upbeat, energetic and impossibly complex, Certified Air Raid Material has certainly raised the bar for state-of-the-art electronic music production. The record is a tour de force of sheer production and engineering genius, resulting in a soulful and futuristic style of dance music that is incomparable to anything else out there.

Originally from Italy, Matt.B started his music career touring Europe with his punk band Psychotic Reactions in the late 80s.The band became popular opening gigs for bands like DOA,UK SUBS,STRUNG OUT and DINOSAUR JR . After graduating from a sound engineering course in Holland, he then moved to the UK where he started his career as producer of electronic music and DJ. Encompassing musical styles from different parts of the globe, he manages to present a total blend, crossing genres and borders. His influences range from dub and dub-step to IDM and techno. He has played in some of the most famous clubs in both the UK (Ministry of Sounds, Mass, Herbal, 303, SEOne, Turnmills) and in Japan (Ageha, Womb, UNIT, Air and LaFabrique). In the past 5 years Mattb has been working on may different projects ,from soundtracks (Dies de Carton winner of 13 awards worldwide)to sound design and productions for many TV ads (OAKLEY Sportwear,Yamaha,AOYAMA Capital,Soccer World Cup 2006) as well as remixing ( Final Fantasy) and producing original tracks with his dub project RND and as a solo artist In November 2007 Matt B started a new project: a collaboration with LA based producer Nalepa - BASS SCIENCE. The 1st release was an EP on Native State Records. The pair has since played in the UK (Glade festival,Synergy Project,Big Chill), US (Low End Theory-LA, Priceless-SF,Intelligent Designers-Chicago, Abstractearth project-Portland,etc etc). Recently this year 2008 Matt B released the album ‘Ask The Dust’ as RND: Roger Linley (from the London Philarmonic Orchestra) at the bass, Shinsuke Inoue(a long term student of the revered Kul Bhushan Bhargava) on tablas and Brother Culture (Trojan Sound System) MC. Mary Anne Hobbs and Nick Luscombe played a few tracks on BBC Radio 1 and Resonance.FM.

Broken Haze (Keisuke Ito) is one of the finest japanese �electronica hip hop�h producer. His fururistic music is made of glitchy digital noises, chopped melody and cinematic ambience. After releasing several tracks on compilations, he released an instrumental E.P called �Gphase.01 ,now recognized as a classic of underground abstract music. In 2008, he released the album Raid System (which includes also a remix made by machinedrum and featuringa tracks with Richard devine and com.a), and the track [rebuild] reached top 5 in the electronic chart @ iTunes store. People call his works as "emotional glitch hop" and defenetly he can be considered one of the pioneer of the new underground japanese scene .

OQTO, born in Fukuoka and now living in Kanagawa/Japan. He's been on the scene since electronica and abstract music have been banging. Having lived in Europe and India his experience of raves and dub sound systems have heavily influenced his sound. Since 2006 he has been producing tracks colored as dupstep; an organic sound surrounded by lots of spacy synthesizer, heavy bass and rough, confusing beats. OQTO tracks have been featureed on a compilation for Club Asia and he dedicated tunes for Ryuichi Sakamoto's project, 'Stop Rokkasho', while getting big props from the scene setting Mary Ann Hobbs/ BBC Radio 1 from the UK and regularly played on underground radio stations such as Sub FM and Brap FM. He owns the independent label "BASSAB" and has played with Goth-TRad, DJ Tsuyoshi, Tokyo Zawinul Bach to mention a few. In Dec. '08 his new and highly anticipated album appears from the exclusive Japanese Dupstep label, 'Steppin' Ahead'. We wait with baited breath..

Bridging the gap between synthpop and shoegaze, industrial and IDM, techno and trip-hop, BETAMAXNOMATES boldly goes where countless other better, more successful, artists have gone before. Armed only with a library of preset synth patches, recycled drum loops, and a passing familiarity with the I, IV, V chord progression, BETAMAXNOMATES� music has been deemed �listenable�, �[not] without merit�, and �tedious and derivative�. Notoriously antisocial, BETAMAXNOMATES shuns any sort of �collaboration�, fiercely suspicious of anyone who might seek to corrupt/improve his singular artistic vision. That said, should the �right contract� (read: any contract) come along, BETAMAXNOMATES is fully prepared to get a lopsided haircut, don a too-tight battered leather jacket and drainpipe jeans and generally compromise said vision all over the place.

Ben Sheppee is best known for his work running the VJ Label Lightrhythm Visuals which produces audiovisual content and performance. Currently based in Tokyo he moved from the UK and the US before extending his labels network into Asia, securing distribution as he travelled. Constantly persuing the concept of video remixing he has inspired a culture of artists who share files and content, reintepreting each others work and learning from each others techniques. The results of these experiments are released on DVD and as data, widely used by leading visual artists and licensed by venues globally.
